please contact me directly to discuss exactly your guinea pigs needs!
1. initial check
when i arrive, i'll confirm the animals care instructions, feeding preferences, enclosure layout, and any specific concerns you have.
i’ll also check whether you would like hay, approved food, or other supplies replenished during the visit.
2. guinea pig relocation
your guinea pigs are moved to a safe temporary area whilst cleaning takes place.
this is only temporary during the duration of the clean.
guinea pigs are never left loose around cleaning equipment, wet surfaces, waste, or open doors.
3. waste removal
used bedding, soiled hay, droppings, leftover food, and waste are carefully removed from the enclosure.
all waste is taken away from premises and disposed elsewhere.
reusable items are separated from disposable materials so they can be cleaned properly.
4. cleaning
the enclosure, trays, flooring, ramps, bowls, hideouts, and accessories are cleared of loose debris.
i remove visible urine residue, hay, hair, dust, and stuck-on material before applying the cleaning solution.
for routine cleaning, I use a natural vinegar-and-water solution to help clean surfaces, reduce urine scale, and remove odours.
5. drying
the cages are dried by hand using clean towels and paper tissues to ensure waste removal of hard to remove stains
6. replenishment
fresh bedding is added and the enclosure is put back together according to your usual setup.
guinea pig litter pellets are the base layer of the enclosure, followed by a layer of dried pine shavings, finally a generous layer of oaten hay provides a natural, soft top layer.
water, bowls, hides, tunnels, toys, and other approved items are returned to their normal positions.
7. final check & report
once everything is finished, I let you know what was completed and mention anything that may need attention, such as damaged enclosure parts, unusual waste, reduced food, or a noticeable change in behavior.
i don’t diagnose medical conditions, but I will report concerns promptly so you can decide whether veterinary advice is needed.
layers
3 layers of bedding are used to offer multiple levels of sanitation.
the pellets are highly absorbent, the shavings add filtration, and the oaten hay is soft on paws and has a gentle natural aroma.
